COURAGIOUS CODY
Cody is a 6 year old neutered male Shih Tzu who had the unfortunate experience of wandering from home and into a yard with a much bigger dog who had no intention of sharing his space.
Cody was a little worse for wear after the altercation and ended up at the Veterinary Hospital for a few days. He was shaved and treated and fortunately his wounds weren't life threatening.
Cody's family dynamics had recently changed and he went from being an inside, doted on dog of adults to a terrorized victim of two young children. No one could blame him for wanting to escape the troublesome toddlers.
The adults realized it wasn't fair to subject him to the two terrorists any longer and they opted to owner surrender him to the Adoption Center.
Please come and meet Cody the lion-hearted pooch. He is sweet, social and obviously very brave. He will make someone a wonderful pet but prefers no young children who like to put gum in his hair!

LOVELY LEE
Lee is an 8 week old kitten that had to work very hard to survive and then thrive in this world.
She was brought to us when she was just a couple of days old and without her mother. We had a foster family caring for a nursing mother and her four kittens so we asked if they would be willing to put Lee with the mama cat and her kittens. They did and she did fine until she was old enough to come back to the Adoption Center.
The Adoption Center wasn't to her liking and she just did not want to eat and grow. We were finally successful in tempting her to eat and she has grown into the prettiest little big eyed kitten you have ever seen.
She is available for adoption and would love to not only survive but thrive in a home of her own!

HAPPY BEGINNINGS!
Francis came to us as a stray that had lived outside someone's house for a few weeks. The couple that owned the home really liked him but their dogs did not so they brought him to the Adoption Center.
He was a beautiful, young, blonde Cocker Spaniel and we couldn't imagine where he had come from. He was in good health, recently groomed, sweet and social but not micro-chipped so there was no way to trace him.
As soon as he was placed on Petfinder the phone started to ring. A wonderful retired couple from Monticello adopted him and he became part of a family with two other rescue dogs living on a large farm.
Be sure to have your pets micro-chipped in case they go missing. And remember that all kinds of beautiful, purebred dogs end up at shelters and rescues. Please wait for your perfect pet to show up in a shelter. You will not only have your breed of choice but will rescue a dog in need of a home.

FOSTER CARE NEEDED
This is Sadie. She is an adorable Dachsund/Terrier mix that was brought to us by someone needing to owner surrender her. She tested positive for heart-worms and the owner was contacted. She paid to have Sadie treated but she needs to stay quiet for 2 months before she can be spayed and placed for adoption.
If you have been considering fostering, this is the perfect opportunity to help. It would be wonderful if Sadie could live in a quiet home during her recovery. Since she has to stay calm, it's an easy assignment. Feeding, a short walk to take care of business, some cuddling on the couch and then crating is all that is required. If you have to go out of town during this period of time, you can house her at the Adoption Center until your return.
Please contact Karen at 670-8417 if you can help this little girl recover from her treatment in comfort.
