GALA’s  "First Friday" in July & August

The Gulf Alliance for Local Arts (GALA) is pleased to present its sixth season of 1st Fridays Fine Art & Music Series.  This popular celebration of the arts next takes place the first Friday evening of  July and August 2010 at the historic Port Inn’s Thirsty Goat Pub on the corner of Hwy. 98 and Hwy. 71 in Port St. Joe.

The 1st Fridays Summer’s Fine Art & Music Series features local & regional visual artists and their work in conjunction with a public music presentation featuring a diverse range of musical talents. Each art exhibit hangs for 30 days in a high traffic venue during tourist season providing an ideal opportunity for visitors as well as locals to view and/or purchase the art. The artist reception and music presentation kicks off each monthly exhibit and continue to attract visitors, tourists and community members from our area as well as neighboring counties. The event has grown larger every year, drawing over 800 total attendees in 2009.

“We are proud to be able to continue the series as a part of our ongoing arts and culture projects,” states Andy Smith, GALA 1st Fridays Chairman. “We put a lot of thought and effort into making this year’s fine art and music presentations the best yet,” he continues.
